Foods, Drinks and Equipment to Carry on a Camping Trip to Enjoy the Most

Camping foodsUnlike other picnic spots, campsites usually don’t have food shops logically because you come here to enjoy nature in its most original form and not spoilt with typical human things like shops and trade, and so, you have to bring everything with you, especially food and drinks and tools to make, serve and eat them. Here are a few useful tips to help you packing food for camping.

Keep it Simple

It’s better to keep foods and equipment to prepare it simple so that you don’t have to spend most of your camping time in cooking. Roughly you should take the following:

  • Pots and Pans
  • Cutlery
  • Fuel and matches
  • Prep Equipment like knife, cutting board, plates, mugs etc.
  • Cooking Equipment
  • Cleaning supplies

Packing Perishable Foods

Cooler is a must for camping since there is no refrigeration. Choosing the best camping cooler is very important, because your cooler will have to serve you a lot. You will need lunches on the road and munchies like sandwich rolls, sliced tomatoes, cucumber and lettuce, hard-boiled eggs, chopped fruits, fruit bars, etc. which are easy to prepare. You’ll also take hot dogs, hamburgers etc. meat products. Plus, you may have to carry milk, vegetables, fruits, condiments and other fresh vegetable foods.

Packing Non-perishable Foods

You’ll have to carry some foods that can be stored at room temperature like coffee, cocoa, tea, milk powder, sugar, salt, pepper, neutral cooking oil, and if you prefer it, fresh spice mixes. You can also carry bread, pancake mix and rolls.

Treats

You can also carry some special treats like caramel chips, chocolate, graham crackers and marshmallows. Although these are good for kids, they can be enjoyed even by adults.

Drinks

You’ll have to pack a lot of drinks too, especially water. You can carry also juices, beer etc.

Although this may seem a much elaborate list, you’ll find it useful when you actually reach your campsite. What you have to do is just start fire and you are ready to cook and eat outdoors!

Use Ziplock Bags

Ziplock bags are good to carry all the above foods and prepping equipment, eliminating the need of carrying bulky containers. Once a bag is empty, you can get rid of it and don’t have to carry back home.

Thus if you make preparation in the right way, you can enjoy eating and drinking in the outdoors to your heart’s content while also enjoying the nature’s company. So, do it and have fun!
